Horror is the most popular movie genre because people know what they are in for, the same needs to be applied to ghost hunting tv shows.
Is This Paranormal formula:
The location.
A short video production of the site. This includes a brief history, tales from the locals, interviews with relevant people (the owner, witnesses, psychics, etc). This will be a real, notorious location.
Setting the stage.
This Paranormal scare team, lead by “Name”, goes in and sets up scares. Some scares are relevant to the site. Audience doesn’t know where the scares are.
The ghost hunt.
Two guests plus the presenter do a ghost hunt. Presenter doesn’t know what the scares are. They get scared! (As does the audience)
The resolution.
Presenters, including scare lead, plus guests do a watch back of the scariest moments and ask the question: Is This Paranormal? Some moments will be obviously-rigged, others though …
